Support Programmes - Spin Outs, Growth Businesses and SMEs

Provided a team of consultants and coaches in the delivery of High Growth Support Programme for 15 early stage businesses across a variety of sectors including digital, FMCG, healthcare and advance manufacturing. Assessing new ideas, providing support with strategy implementation. This resulted in the creation of over 150 new jobs & generating over £9million pounds turnover in 3 years.

Novactus team members were responsible for the development of key innovation & culture change masterclasses of the government’s “Growth Accelerator Programme”. A £200 Million programme sponsored by the Department of Business Innovation and Skills for up to 26,000 English businesses.

Novactus team members developed core components of the “Innovation Expert” Programme. A programme sponsored by the Department of Business Innovation and Skills and delivered through the UK Manufacturing Advisory Service. This programme is targeted supporting 1,100 businesses to overcome their barriers to innovation. Delivered the programme across the South West area supporting a wide range of SME businesses.

Designed and helped launch a programme embedding innovation best practice in the Jordanian business community. The project worked with over 40 companies on building innovative processes and cultures. The programme was sponsored by Jordanian Commerce of Industries.

Worked with 18 SMES across London on innovation projects including creative industry companies, environmental business and clients working in the third sector.

Worked with 20 Defence and Aerospace sector companies overcoming their specific barriers to innovation and helping them develop skills and enter new markets.
    
Single Client Projects - Corporates & Large Organisations

Ran a programme supporting the board of a large multinational advanced manufacturing company to review their current innovation management processes and implement improvements with the aim of accelerating and enhancing their innovation management processes using agile innovation techniques.

Developed a suite of new sports wear for a global sportswear brand by marrying consumer and market trends with latest technical advances. Using technology horizon scanning with time to market readiness rates, current user stories, qualitative & quantitative market analysis) This intense three-month project used a 2-week development sprint approach research the technology landscape, research the markets and to rapidly develop the concepts. New products projected to be worth a target £50 million each in new revenue per annum over next 3 years.

Carried out research project which included interviewing leading 24 researchers and academics to inform a multinational food and drink manufacturer on how to overcome their technical challenges and allow them to deliver their next generation products. Facilitated the resulting development workshops.

Working with multinational logistics company on creating and embedding a culture of innovation and developing a company-wide innovation process. Used digital technologies and reconfiguration of internal systems to deliver £50 million new business opportunity. Developed second follow on project worth £40 million.

Worked with multinational food and drinks company to develop a radical new supply chain to increase and secure their supply of a key ingredient. Facilitated a strategic workshop working with a team of twelve internal and external experts to develop three compelling alternative strategies using the latest research and state of the art technology reviews as inspiration for a “hot house” strategy event.  The strategies from the event were then refined and built into a development plan for the company. This resulting plan was signed off and this large-scale project is now in the implementation stage.

Provided research work and facilitated problem solving workshops to assist the development of new product development strategy taking into consideration new technologies at a Multinational Oil and Gas company

Worked with a cross functional team from a large rail carriage manufacturing company use innovation and improvement techniques to radically speed up their process times resulting in considerable 27% savings and making them more competitive.

Worked with large multinational food company to review the opportunities being created by the ageing population. Ran a virtual ideation workshop incorporating attendees from seven different countries using latest research, consumer insight, design thinking and sprint approaches develop new opportunities.

Facilitated successful innovation and creativity sessions with multinational sports and leisure company to develop next generation products for use by elite atheletes at Olympics.

Facilitated the concept development of a radical new processing method using agile sprint at a multinational sink and basin manufacturer using emerging technology research as inspiration for the ideation session.

Facilitated a strategic workshop to support the development of a radical new product which would allow a step change in oil transportation for a well-established multinational oil and gas company using technical insight and a structured innovation facilitation processes

Facilitated successful innovation and creativity sessions with multinational sports and leisure company to develop next generation products using consumer trend analysis and technical horizon scanning as a basis for setting their R&D strategy

Embedded new creative thinking and problem solving tools within multinational medical device company through series of facilitated workshops using a tailored innovation management framework and personal coaching of team members.

Worked with international packaging company to develop their innovation processes from insight to implementation. The project consisted of a series of workshops and mentoring support.

NHS and Healthcare Work

Work with over 80 NHS Trusts: including Acute Trusts, Mental Health Trusts, Clinical Commissioning Groups and previously Primary Care Trusts in the last 10 years. The work was focused on introducing the latest innovation techniques and embedding innovation and culture change across the country through a network of “Trust Innovation Leaders”. Mentored the Innovation leaders and spun out multiple new innovations including new medical devices, software products and a wide range of service improvements

Delivered digital innovation event for Royal Society of Medicine. Supporting medical innovators raising skill levels and helping them develop are desirable to the customer, technically feasible and commercially viable products at speed.

EU funded project looking at the business cases for a suite of digital health innovations for the ageing population

Co-ordinated the role out of an online learning programme across the NHS in England using a web-based platform developed by an exciting new SME. Used agile and lean start up methodologies as the basis for the programme.

University & Research Centre Projects

Worked with numerous UK universities of the commercial potential of academic research work. Helped commercialise 3 exciting technologies for the water sector that were floated on the AIM market for £70million

Supported the construction and delivery of a culture change programme for the Science and Technology Facilities Council (1,500 staff), one of the UK’s premier research centres (home of the UK’s particle accelerator and UK Space Agency). Looking at the development of a more entrepreneurial and commercially aware workforce.

Researched knowledge management best practice across 18 different industrial sectors, developing a model and recommended implementation strategy for the Centre of Process Innovation

Provided mentors and commercial leads to spin out projects coming out of the AgorIP project run by Swansea University. This is a £13.5million project supporting new businesses in West Wales and the Valleys.

Provided expert advice to a six Czech Universities to improve their technology transfer success rates.

Facilitated a horizon scanning workshop into emerging technologies impacting the manufacturing sector over the next 5 years for the ASTUTE 2020 consortium.
